Jacob H. Carruthers papers
Jacob H. Carruthers was one of six African Americans to integrate the University of Texas School of Law in 1950. He later taught at Northeastern Illinois University for 32 years and was the Director of the Kemetic Institute in Chicago. His papers include numerous articles authored by Carruthers dealing with African American and Africa though, history, and culture. Also included is a copy of a play entitled "J.J. Dessalines" authored by Carruthers.

Collection consists of a typescript manuscript of Wilfred G. Cartey's work Whispers from the Caribbean: I Going Away, I Going Home, which was a critical review of the works of Caribbean novelists. The book was published by the Center for Afro-American Studies, Univesity of California, Los Angeles in 1991.
